We currently offer two self-determination models: the Bill Payer model and Co-employer model.

Under the Bill Payer Model, FMS is responsible for the following:

• Paying for items and services identified in the Spending Plan that are provided by service providers

• Providing a  monthly summary of expenses and statement of costs per month Participant/family member

 

Under the Bill Payer Model, Participant/ family member is responsible for the following:

• Ensuring that costs are within the budget and accurately utilized

Under The Co-employer Model, FMS is responsible for the following:

• Paying for items and services identified in the Spending Plan that are provided by service providers. 

• Verifying the worker’s legal eligibility to work in the US

• Verifying that the service provider passed a background check

• Providing a monthly summary of expenses and statement of costs per month

• Paying required taxes

• Obtaining a tax reporting number

• Filing all tax reporting

• Obtaining liability insurance

• Obtaining Worker’s Compensation Insurance

• Compliant with employment laws

Under the Co-employer, the Participant/ family member is responsible for the following:

• Hiring Employee Service Providers

• Time ticket approval

• Scheduling with service providers

• Ensuring that costs are within the budget and accurately utilized
